In most cases, foreign nationals who wish to visit or immigrate to Vietnamfor any length of time will need to apply for a visa in order to do so.

In Vietnam, immigration services do allow nationals of some countries to enter for alimited period without applying for a visa. However, for the majority offoreign nationals, applying for a Vietnamese visa is mandatory.

1. One, get Vietnam Visa on Arrival(collecting at Vietnam International Airporton arrival)

- Issuing unit: Vietnam ImmigrationDepartment (A18).

- Processing time: 1 to 2 working days fornormal service, 1 working day for urgent service (24 hours).

- Processing fee: 21 - 40 USD/person(stamping fee NOT included.

- Without Passport presented within processof application.

- All you have to do is go to thiswebsite http://www.vietnamvisaonline.net and fill out the online forms with your passport and personalinformation. Make sure you clarify if you want a single entry or multipleentry visa if you plan to explore nearby countries or return to Vietnamin the near future.

Once you complete the process they will send you a confirmation email withimportant information of the requirements. You will need to get 2passport photos taken as well as print out an official letter declaring yourarrival as well as an application form which are all required at the airport.

2. Two, reaching the Vietnam Embassy in Bangkok

Get a taxi or Skytrain to Wireless  Road (Soi Wittayu) in the centre of Bangkok. On the Skytrainyou get off at the Phloen Chit stop. Walk out through the elevated skywalk andthen down the stairs onto Wireless  Road going towards All Seasons Place, which is ahuge mall and office block. (There is a big map on a board in the BTS station - check it before you go out through the exits to ensure you know where you are going).

At the bottom of the walkway stairs there is a cluster of shops that canprovide you with passport photos if you do not have them already. You will needtwo for your Vietnamvisa application. Get these before you go any further.

Walk along Wireless Roadfor about five minutes. The Vietnamese Embassy is just along here, but it is easy to miss because you are so close to it. Look for this door, which is theentry to the Visa Application area.

Once inside, fill in one of the application forms and then submit it at thewindow along with the appropriate fee. It is around 1000 Baht ($30 US) for a oneentry visa - make sure you request a multiple entry visa if you intend to exitand re-enter Vietnamduring your travels, otherwise you will have to apply for a second visa all overagain. You need to submit the visa application between 8.30am to 11.30 am and1.30pm to 4.30pm. You can collect it 3 days later or pay a little more and getexpress service to collect it the next day, but make sure you drop it early inthe morning if you want to be sure of this.
